Chamber of Commerce Flea Market picks up steam

The Gerald Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Flea Market each Sunday in May and June.
After rains soaked the grounds in the days leading up to the first scheduled event, the group cancelled the Flea Market for May 5. On Sunday, May 12, competition with Mother’s Day events meant a small turnout in both vendors and shoppers. Last Sunday, with nearly perfect weather, the grounds at Legion Park looked a little more like the event the Chamber had envisioned. A great assortment of items were offered by eight vendors and shoppers seemed pleased with the selection. Plants, cupcakes, Scentsy products, tools, books, jams and jellies, jewelry and rummage sale items were available. Next Sunday, a Memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial in the park. Organizers hope that those attending the memorial will come earlier and eat lunch at the Chamber’s food stand before shopping at the Flea Market. Vendor spaces are offered at no charge this year.
