COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Coldwater Car Show and Swap Meet organizers drove home the point yesterday that the yearly event in early May is a showcase for people to have a good time while also helping raise funds for community service groups in Branch County. Dale Parshall is President of the car show organization which yesterday distributed checks totaling $20,000 from this years event, which is up about $6,000 from 2012. Parshall said they were down on the number of cars that turned out this year but up on spectator gate proceeds. That helped expand their list of groups benefitting from the show from seven last year to 11 for 2013.
The new organizations are the Humane Society of Branch County, the Eby-Klein Youth and Family Center, UCT Youth Activities and Jacobs Well Ministries. And Parshall said it’s a win/win situation because folks at the car show are engaged in something they love to do and if they can raise money to help people out in the community, they enjoy that as well and appreciate the efforts of the service clubs and groups.
